The TV anime was originally broadcast in Japan from to in satellite television network Animax where it aired on Wednesdays in the 22:00-22:30 time-slot. Instead of strictly following the manga, both productions were co-developed at the same time, with the animation taking a more comedic approach. The series was a co-production between Nippon Animation, Animax and Fuji TV.
